    Itinerary

Day 1Detailed Itinerary – Cusco City Tour

    1:00 PM – Hotel Pickup & Introduction

Your guide meets you at your hotel and gives a warm welcome. As you begin the ride toward the first site, you’ll receive an engaging introduction to Cusco’s Inca origins, colonial history, and the places you’ll visit throughout the afternoon.

1:20 PM – Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun)

Your first stop is the legendary Qorikancha, once the most sacred temple of the entire Inca Empire.
Your guide will walk you through its masterfully carved stone chambers while explaining how the Incas aligned walls with astronomical events. You’ll also see the contrast between original Inca architecture and the colonial convent built on top.
Expect time for photos and questions before continuing to the outskirts of the city.

2:10 PM – Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Complex

Arrive at the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán, perched above the city with panoramic views.
Here you’ll explore its massive zig-zag walls, built with enormous limestone blocks—some weighing over 100 tons—fitted perfectly without mortar. Your guide reveals theories about its construction, ceremonial importance, and the historic battles fought on this site.
You’ll walk along terraces, viewpoints, and ceremonial zones.

3:00 PM – Qenqo: Ceremonial Labyrinth

A short drive takes you to Qenqo, a unique ritual site carved from a single limestone outcrop.
Walk through narrow rock passages, observe altars used for offerings, and learn about the Inca’s deep connection to astronomy, mountains, and the afterlife.
Your guide explains the role of this mysterious site in ceremonies honoring deities and ancestors.

3:40 PM – Puka Pukara: The Red Fort

Continue to Puka Pukara, a strategic military outpost built to defend access routes to Cusco.
The reddish color of its stones comes from the local minerals in the area. Explore its plazas, enclosures, and lookout points with sweeping views of the Andean landscape.
This is also a great spot for photography.

4:00 PM – Tambomachay: The Water Temple

Your final stop is Tambomachay, known for its finely engineered water channels and fountains.
Your guide explains how this site may have served as a place for rituals honoring water, fertility, and life. The aqueducts still function, carrying fresh natural spring water—one of the most impressive examples of Inca hydraulic engineering.
Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere before heading back to the city.

5:00 PM – Return to Cusco

After exploring all five sites, you will return to Cusco in the late afternoon.
Drop-off is near the Plaza de Armas or at your hotel upon request.
